Humanity has experienced many devastating conflicts over the years, resulting in death and enslavement. The power of art, however, manages to transform this traumatic experience into a form of communication through a cultural mixture that brings people together.
As with other populations, the same thing happened to the Greeks, Armenians, and Turks about 100 years ago. In this context, the Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece (H.E.C.E.), through their exhibition entitled “1922 – 2022 Exodus – Way Out”, gathered more than 372 Greek and foreign artists of different backgrounds to create and exhibit their works to the public in order to tell the story while maintaining a connection between the past and the future. Thus, speaking not only about the transformation of more than one and a half million Greeks, Armenians and Turks into refugees but also about contemporary events. This event required several months of preparation in order to expose aspects of history that are little known to the current generation.
The participating artists let their creative genius shine through excellent works that did not go unnoticed by the exhibition’s audience, arousing the curiosity of many and raising several questions for the organizers who tried to shed light on the history of people.
It was an enriching experience for all participants, as well as for our team who were on-site during the exhibition. It helped everyone to understand more about the past, but also to refresh their memory of painful events in order to make the connection between our human roots, which, in a way, share all our needs, relationships, summarizing our commonalities.

Renouer avec nos racines
L’humanité a connu de nombreux conflits dévastateurs au fil des ans, entraînant la mort et l’esclavage. Le pouvoir de l’art, cependant, parvient à transformer cette expérience traumatisante en un mélange culturel amenant ainsi les Hommes à vivre ensemble.
Comme pour d’autres peuples, la même chose s’est produite pour les Grecs, les Arméniens et les Turcs il y a environ 100 ans. Dans ce contexte, la Chambre hellénique des beaux-arts (H.E.C.E.), à travers son exposition intitulée “1922 – 2022 Exodus – Exodus”, a rassemblé plus de 372 artistes grecs et étrangers de différents horizons pour créer et exposer leurs œuvres au public afin de raconter l’histoire tout en maintenant un lien entre le passé et l’avenir. Ils ont ainsi parlé non seulement de la transformation de plus d’un million et demi de Grecs, Arméniens et Turcs en réfugiés, mais aussi d’événements contemporains. Cet événement a nécessité plusieurs mois de préparation afin d’exposer des aspects de l’histoire peu connus de la génération actuelle.
Les artistes participants ont laissé éclater leur génie créatif dans d’excellentes œuvres qui ne sont pas passées inaperçues auprès du public de l’exposition, suscitant la curiosité de beaucoup et soulevant plusieurs questions pour les organisateurs qui ont essayé de faire la lumière sur l’histoire des peuples.
Ce fut une expérience enrichissante pour tous les participants, ainsi que pour notre équipe qui était sur place pendant l’exposition. Elle a permis à chacun de mieux comprendre le passé, mais aussi de se remémorer des événements douloureux afin de faire le lien entre nos racines humaines qui, d’une certaine manière, partagent tous nos besoins, nos relations, résumant ainsi nos points communs.
