Friendship is an immensely overlooked vital component in our society. It is often looked down on by many people and it’ s significance is overshadowed by the greed and ego that leads our everyday intentions. Friends are the people we turn to when we need advice, a shoulder to cry on, or just someone to be there when we shatter into pieces. They provide us with a sense of belonging, support and happiness.
Perhaps if we had time to dig deeper in what the limits of forming meaningful relationships can reach, we could have skipped past the darkest moments of our world’s history. We were all taught since birth to run towards to our goals and proceed with caution towards every human interaction. Underestimating what true connection can achieve. We all have different backgrounds, beliefs, and experiences, but friendship allows us to connect with others who may not be like us in every way. This helps us to break down barriers and form bonds with people who we may not have otherwise met.
The impact we provide to society has to occur in our own individual self-first. Humans are social beings. Socializing is imperative to developing our minds and nurturing our souls. Open-mindedness, self-awareness and emotional intelligence are all attributes of great leaders for our future society. If we put more value to them, we could create a society that is devoid of disrespect and misunderstandings. We could learn to co-exist despite our differences and prejudices that we have adopted over the years, not just as separated nations but as a whole.
